Defenders of Silverglade

Project Description

In Defenders of Silverglade a long war has been raging on in the protection of the glade. Countless enemies siege the central portal of the glade on a yearly basis trying to destroy it and seal away all magic for good. It is your job as the keeper of the portal to build up your defenses and harness the power of the portal to hold these lines and keep it open and the magic flowing into the world.

Project Brief

The focus of this project was to showcase our understanding of procedural content generation (PCG) and implement it into our game to generate content from algorithms. In addition to this we were also tested on how we implemented these PCGs while creating a good player experience by keeping the game fun and balanced.

Role & Contribution

Within this project I took on the roles of developer, game designer and 3D artist. My primary contributions were as follows:

  • Creation of our procedural terrain system.

  • Modification of terrain tile assets.

  • Creation of basic procedural spawning system.

  • Creation of procedural season system.

  • Balancing of game.

Technologies used

  • Unity Engine: This application was used for the creation and compiling of our game and makes use of C# as its programming language.

  • Blender: This application was used to create and modify 3D assets for our game.

  • Git hub: This application was used for version control and collaboration on the project between me and my team member.
